The owner of a Taco Bell restaurant in Sacramento says he will no longer sell guns and will no more offer guns to customers.
The owners of La Fiesta Restaurant in Sacramento, Calif., said they will not sell firearms to customers because of a new state law.
They say they will continue to do so because they believe it’s in the best interest of the customers.
“We are a sanctuary.
We will not have any guns in our restaurant,” said owner John Bautista.
“We have a policy that you have to have a license to buy firearms and we’re not going to sell any weapons.
Our gun policy is, no guns, no weapons, no customers, no guests, no kids, no dogs.””
It was something that we really thought was a good idea, it was a very logical thing to do,” he added.
“There’s a lot of people who don’t understand why this is happening.
It’s not about us.
It just happens that we don’t do it.”
Bautista says the new law has been in place since April, and he’s only been able to sell guns to some customers since then.
He says the owners of other restaurants have had their licenses revoked.
Bautistas is hoping the new state laws can be put into place before it’s too late.
“I’m trying to do the right thing, to protect our customers and the employees, and we have to work together to get it done,” he said.
The bill, which went into effect last week, requires that licensed gun dealers sell to all licensed gun buyers in the state, and prohibits those who dont meet the new licensing requirements from selling guns.
Bret Johnson, executive director of the Sacramento-based Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, says the law has led to an increase in violence in Sacramento.
“They’re selling guns to criminals.
They’re selling them to gangs, they’re selling it to the drug dealers.
Theyre selling it illegally,” he told ABC News.”
Theres a lot more guns that are out there than the people who need them, and theyre being used by people that shouldnt be.”
The Sacramento Bee reported that the number of shootings in Sacramento increased in May, up from 31 in April to 51 last month.
